Scouting Report on WSU Prospects at NEFC

AMONG THE in-state prospects from Washington who were on hand for the Nike Northwest Elite Football Camp, five hold Cougar offers. Here's Scout.com's breakdown on how they performed at the camp.

Northwest Scout Report
Trent Sewell –wide receiver– Bothell (WA) - 2012
Scout's Take: Sewell performed well this past weekend. At 6-2, 205 pounds, Sewell looked like a college player working out with a bunch of high school prospects. He has the speed and the size to absolutely dominate, something that he did regularly last season. Focus seems to an issue occasionally, but it is with many high school prospects. When Sewell is focused and on his game, there might not be anyone better in the Northwest. Sewell is heading out on a huge college camp tour starting this weekend, I wouldn't be surprised to see him return with a couple more Pac-12 offers.

Recruiting: Offers from Washington State and UCLA. Interest from other Pac-10 schools.
Northwest Scout Report
Caleb Smith –Tight End – Kentridge (WA) - 2012
Scout's Take: Smith has been one of the hottest prospects in the West since Washington State offered, picking up six more offers in the weeks that followed. Smith looked comfortable at the camp, he seems to have a bond with Coach Rasmussen as well Coach Tormey. Smith has all of the physical tools and is coming into his own at the tight end position. He could improve his route running, but has soft hands and the speed to run away from linebackers. Smith hasn't participated in blocking drills at any camp so far, it will be interesting to see where his blocking is this fall, after two years of playing quarterback.

Recruiting: Offers from Eastern Washington, Idaho, Montana, Oregon State, Purdue, UNLV, Washington and Washington State.
Northwest Scout Report
Cory English –Offensive Line – Auburn (WA) - 2012
Scout's Take: English didn't have his best day during the 1-on-1 session, but overall showed why Washington State has offered. English is athletic and has a good frame and doesn't have much bad weight on him. He will need some time in the weight room before he sees the field in college, where he should play somewhere on the interior. English is on record as also hoping for an offer from Washington, where his former teammate Danny Shelton has signed. I don't see English making a decision anytime soon, he will likely be willing to wait until signing day to see if an offer from the Huskies comes.

Recruiting: Offers from Idaho, Oregon State and Washington State. Also hearing from UCLA and Washington.
Northwest Scout Report
 Ma'ne Manaea –Safety – Lakes (WA) - 2012
Scout's Take: Manaea put on another solid performance at the Nike NEFC. Whether it is his hair or his personality, Manaea is almost impossible to miss. As has been mentioned before, Manaea is not a freak athletically, but has the tools to make every play on the field he needs to. The junior is a very competitive and physical player, who seems to become a leader in any group he is placed in. Word is Manaea is leaning heavily toward Washington State. He is also very close with teammate Cedric Dozier as well as fellow Cougar recruits Trent Sewell and Caleb Smith. The group has discussed trying to play college football together, we will have to wait and see if that comes to fruition.

Recruiting: Offers from Colorado and Washington State. Headed to Utah for the All-Poly camp this weekend.
Northwest Scout Report
 Jayshawn Jordan –Cornerback – O'Dea (WA) - 2012
Scout's Take: Jordan has a quiet demeanor, but plays with an intense attitude. Jordan is very quick and has great hips. He gives up height to almost every receiver he guards, but makes up for it by playing the ball extremely well in the air. Even though he is a physical player and sure tackler, Jordan will be able to add bulk in a college weight room. Jordan came away from the camp impressed with Cougar coaching staff and really liked the time he spent with Coach Chris Ball. Jordan plans on waiting to see what other offers come in before he makes a decision.

Recruiting: Offer from Washington State. Interest from Pac-12 schools. Will camp at Washington and possibly California.
