NEWSWIRE: RB on comeback trail, eyes WSU

THE CALIFORNIA RUNNING BACK had a standout senior season at Laguna Creek High last fall, rushing for 2,305 yards. But as reported in the Elk Grove Patch, he "tried to run away from school" for so long, there was no chance he would meet NCAA academic requirements. Following advice, he's graduated from high school, gone the junior college route and plans to later transfer to Washington State.

Don Jackson ranks as one of his all-time great players, says Mark Nill, who has coached at Laguna Creek for more than 15 years. Jackson (5-9, 175), however, also struggled when away from the field.

But he looks to have gotten himself back on track, and on a path that could well lead him to Washington State.
