WSU hoops signee Sequele is JC bound

PULLMAN – Greg Sequele, who signed a basketball letter of intent with Washington State last November, has enrolled at the College of Southern Idaho, the Cougars announced Thursday.

A spokesperson said coach Ken Bone had no comment. The spokesperson said the Cougars could not be more specific than to say Sequele did not meet NCAA eligibility standards, but CSI coach Steve Gosar said Sequele did not meet academic standards.

As reported in an earlier story on CF.C, it's one less player in an already thin front court for Bone.

Southern Idaho, a traditional junior college powerhouse located in Twin Falls, won the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I tournament last season.

Sequele, listed at 6-foot-8 and 225 pounds, averaged approximately 13 points, 12 rebounds and 2 blocked shots per game last season at Ribet Academy in Los Angeles. He was believed to be a long-term investment, not an immediate difference maker. But the fact is that the Cougars are perilously thin in the post, lacking size, experience and proven talent on the front line.

Sequele was one of three incoming scholarship recruits at WSU. The others are guard DaVonte Lacy from Curtis High School and D.J. Shelton, a California junior college forward.
