BREAKING: Cougs land sought San Diego-area OT

WASHINGTON STATE'S FIRST official visit weekend of the year that wrapped up a few days ago just keeps getting better and better. The Cougars have landed another offensive lineman, this one an award winning o-tackle from the San Diego area who held double digit offers including three from the Pac-12.

Oceanside's Eduardo Middleton (6-5, 280) didn't wait long following his trip to the Palouse this past weekend. He's a Cougar.

"I just committed to Washington State," said Middleton, ranked three stars and among the Top 100 nationally at offensive tackle by

His frame, agility and ability to stop defenders cold in both the running and passing game had made for a busy recruiting season. Middleton held multiple offers, including full rides from Wazzu, Oregon State, Utah, Boise State, SDSU, SMU, UNLV, Air Force, Navy and others.

But his recruitment, he said, is over.

"I found the school, the one that had everything I wanted. I didn't see the point in waiting any longer or going on any more trips...I'm just excited for the future at Washington State," said Middleton.

Middleton becomes the third verbal commitment from this past official visit weekend -- and the third o-line pledge, joining offensive guard / center prospects Sam Flor out of Seattle and Denzell Dotson from Glendale, Ariz.

As a junior, Middleton was named All League, All Area, All San Diego Section, All San Diego Academic and took home the Offensive Lineman of the Year Award at Oceanside High, about 40 minutes outside of San Diego.

"It was everything about Washington State," said Middleton in explaining his decision. "It was the Cougar Pride, the family atmosphere, the program on the rise -- everything."

Middleton and his teammates could be embarking on a historic season. Oceanside High is the ninth-ranked team in the state. They play Chaparral this week.
