DT plans Washington State official

WASHINGTON STATE's list of 16 known verbal commitments shows all prep players, every single one of them. But that doesn't mean there aren't some crimson juco targets out there as well. One that holds a WSU offer and has a planned official visit date is a 6-3, 300-pound defensive tackle who is always around the ball..

Chris Brown out of Scottsdale CC has a trip scheduled to Washington State on Nov. 19, when the Cougs host the Utes.

He holds offers from both WSU and Utah, with Tennessee and Ole Miss showing increasing interest.

Brown said he's looking forward to spending some time with d-line coach Todd Howard, a coach he says he's bonded with this recruiting season.

"He's about business. He's right there, interested in making you better and getting you to where you can go. When I talked to him, he has the full résumé, he was a really good businessman about things, he cares about helping out the program and helping you out," said Brown.

DEFENSIVE TACKLES don't put up gaudy stat numbers but in five games this season Brown has 19 tackles (10 solo), with three for loss and a sack. He also has a forced fumble and recovery to his credit.

"Washington State said they like that I fire off the ball well, and that I'm always around the ball," said Brown.

Brown was second team all-conference as a freshman after posting 30 tackles, 6 TFL and 3 sacks as a freshman.

Originally from Chicago, Brown prepped at Skyline High in Mesa, where he was among Scout.com's top d-linemen in the 2010 recruiting cycle. He has three to play two at the next level.

Brown isn't the only d-tackle from Scottsdale on the Wazzu radar. Mike Pennel (6-5, 330) also has a Cougar offer.
