NFL Cougar Highlights: Week Seven

A ROUTINE PHYSICAL turned out to be anything but for Cougar great Jerome Harrison. The Detroit running back was traded to Philadelphia last week and casually mentioned the persistent headaches he'd been having to the Eagles team doctor. The trade was nullified, but Harrison's life may have been saved when an MRI discovered a brain tumor.

Doctors believe they successfully removed the tumor from Harrison on Friday. Reports cite a condition called arteriovenous malformation—an abnormal connection between veins and arteries—as the likely culprit of the brain tumor.

The prognosis for a complete recovery and return to the gridiron is good.

Here's how all of the NFL Cougars performed in week seven:

Hamza Abdullah, S, Arizona, 7th season: Assisted on one special teams tackle in the Cardinals' 32-20 loss to Pittsburgh. Called out Cardinal fans on his Twitter account for allowing visiting Steeler fans out-noise them.

Husain Abdullah, S, Minnesota, 4th season: Posted five tackles (4 solo) in the Vikings' 33-27 loss to Green Bay.

Erik Coleman, S, Detroit, 8th season: Did not play; out for the season on injured reserve with an ankle injury.

Jed Collins, FB, New Orleans, 3rd season :Ran the ball once for a 1-yard touchdown in the Saints' 62-7 dismantling of the Counterfeit Colts. Jedzilla has scored sixty percent of the time he's touched the ball.

Eric Frampton, S, Minnesota, 5th season: Assisted on one special teams tackle in the Vikings' loss to the Packers.

Brandon Gibson, WR, St. Louis, 3rd season: Despite starting the first five games of the season and leading the Rams in receptions, the Puyallup native was deemed expendable with the addition of Brandon Lloyd to the roster. He was a healthy scratch for the Rams' 34-7 fall to Dallas.

Jason Hanson, K, Detroit, 20th season: The Spokane native was perfect on three field goal attempts (long of 43) and one extra-point in the Lions' 23-16 fall to Atlanta.

Jerome Harrison, RB, Detroit, 6th season: Did not play; placed on the club's reserve/non-football illness due to a brain tumor.

Jason Hill, WR, Jacksonville, 5th season :Caught four passes for 62 yards in the Jags' 12-7 defeat of Baltimore.

Chris Ivory, RB, New Orleans, 2nd season :Did not play; is now eligible to be taken off the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, but was has not practiced and was not activated for the Saints' romp of the Indianapolis. The Saints have a three week window to take Ivory off the PUP list and resume practicing with the team. Once he begins practicing, they have another three week window to either activate him or place him on season-ending injured reserve.

Rian Lindell, K, Buffalo, 12th season: Did not play; bye week.

Ropati Pitoitua, DE, New York Jets, 3rd season: Posted one solo tackle in the Jets' 27-21 victory against San Diego.
