BREAKING: Wulff lands all-purpose playmaker

WITH LITTLE ROOM REMAINING in the 2012 recruiting class, the Cougs filled one of their spots with a dynamic playmaker. An all-purpose threat on offense and in the return game, he pledged WSU sight unseen. And he'll be enrolling early and going through spring ball with the Cougs.

"I committed to Washington State," L.A. Harbor College's Theron West tells CF.C. "I always wanted to be part of something special. My high school was always underrated, and I think Washington State can be great."

West (5-8, 170) plans to officially visit the Cougs on the first or second weekend in December.

"They liked my speed, my agility, being able to make plays..I might play a little running back, or it could be in the slot – wherever is best for the team. And I'll be a return guy, both kick return and punt return. I can have a great impact in a spread offense," said West.

West is scheduled to graduate in December, join WSU in January and go through spring ball with the Cougs. He will have three years to play two at Wazzu.

"I'm just very excited to be a Coug. Washington State is a great place for me to be," said West, who has family in the area.

WEST DOES A little bit of everything -- pass, catch and return. He led L.A. Harbor in all-purpose yards, (105.3). scoring (36) and rushing despite carrying the ball just 98 times. His ypc was 6.7.

He had 12 receptions for 126 hashes and nine punt returns for 68 yards. On kickoff returns, he averaged 26.9 per.

Some schools were apparently scared off by his lack of size, though he still earned offers from Toledo, Idaho, New Mexico State and Utah State.

West becomes the 18th known commitment in the 2012 class, joining DL Jacob Tuivaiave, OT Pierson Villarrubia, OT Fernando Villanueva , OT Eduardo Middleton, OG/C Sam Flor, OG/C Denzell Dotson, OT B.J. Salmonson, WR Rashad Jackson, CB Vershad Jackson, WR Travis Gardner, DT Maurice Bennett, RB Terrell Davis, S Taylor Taliulu, QB Austin Apodaca, MLB Jordan Pulu, S David Bucannon and WR Dalen Jones. The Cougs are projected to take 19-20 for the 2012 class when Signing Day arrives in February.
