NFL Cougar Highlights: Week 15

WHEN YOU'VE PLAYED 20 years in the NFL, career and league milestones seem to become a weekly—and thereby almost trivial—occurrence. But there is no trivializing the magnitude of the milestone reached by Cougar kicking great Jason Hanson on Sunday.

Extra-points are routine for the Spokane native; he's missed (or had blocked) just eight PATs his entire career. But the four he punched through for the Detroit Lions today gave him 2001 career points, making Hanson just the sixth player in league history to achieve that milestone. Better still, he becomes the first player to reach these scoring heights with one franchise.

Yet what was likely most important to Hanson? His final PAT was the difference, as the Lions defeated Oakland, 28-27, bringing their season record to 9-5 and in step with Atlanta for the wildcard playoff spot in the NFC.

Here's how all of the NFL Cougars performed in week 15:

Hamza Abdullah, S, Arizona, 7th season: No recorded stats from the Cardinals' 20-17 victory against Cleveland.

Husain Abdullah, S, Minnesota, 4th season: Did not play; placed on injured reserve (concussion) and out for the remainder of the season.

Erik Coleman, S, Detroit, 8th season: Did not play; out for the season on injured reserve with an ankle injury.

Jed Collins, FB, New Orleans, 3rd season :Caught one pass for 12 yards and rushed once for another 2 in the Saints' 42-20 defeat of Minnesota. Collins is currently in third place in fan balloting for the fullback's spot on the NFC Pro Bowl roster. To cast your vote for Jed, click to and vote as many times as you like.
