A blast from the past

CLOSE WATCHERS of Washington state recruiting will remember Auburn's Chris Young (6-0, 220). Two years removed from the prep ranks, the JUCO All-American is back on the radar and will visit two Pac 12 schools in January, one being Washington State....

Since the end of the season for the Gauchos, Chris Young has taken three visits - to Indiana, Ohio State and New Mexico State -- and he has two new trips set up.

"I have offers from Oregon State and Washington State and I'll be visiting both of them before I commit anywhere," Young told JCFootball.com recently. "I visit Oregon State on January 20th and I'm still working on dates for the Washington State trip, but it will be one of the weekends in January."

Young graduated from Auburn (Wa.) High School and signed with Washington, but was unable to qualify.

"I haven't talked to Washington since I left there to come down here," Young said. "I needed to get away from the area and be out on my own a little bit. I wanted to come back, but since I haven't spoken to them, I don't think that will happen."

This season, as a full-time starter for Arizona Western, Young was named a First Team All-American after racking up 111 tackles (45 solo) to go along with 30 tackles-for-loss, 8.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries and two interceptions to go along with an amazing six defensive touchdowns from his 'Rover' position.
