BREAKING: After Leach in-home, WR verbals

HE FIGURED HE would head to Washington State on his official visit on Jan. 13 and then sometime after that, make his decision. Following an in-home visit with Mike Leach on Thursday night, there was no need to wait.

Brett Bartolone (5-10, 180, 4.5) out of La Habra, Calif. went crimson following his in-home visit with Mike Leach and assistants Jim Mastro and Eric Morris.

"Last night I committed to Washington State, I was just clearly comfortable talking to them and I knew how well I would fit in that offense," said Bartolone.

Bartolone, who is very close friends with Cougar quarterback and former La Habra star Cody Clements, was named first team all-county and the Freeway League offensive player of the year his senior season.

"They just talked about what they had talked about when they offered me earlier, to use me in the slot, motion me into the backfield, those kinds of things," said Bartolone, who added that Clements was thrilled to hear the news.

Bartolone had 50 receptions for 643 yards and eight touchdowns, but also carried the ball plenty of times, too. He rushed for 924 yards with nine touchdowns, averaging 7 yards a carry. He rushed for more than 100 yards in games twice this season.

Bartolone is also an exceptional student off the field, with a 4.0 GPA and a 1630 score on the SAT.
