Theron West circling back toward WSU

RUNNING BACK THERON WEST verbally committed to Wazzu before Mike Leach came onto the scene, and has been looking around a bit since then. But with the new WSU coaching staff in close contact with West over recent weeks, West has a clearer picture of where he stands.

He's all but wrapped up, almost certainly headed to WSU, said West, an L.A. Harbor College standout.

"I'm definitely still committed to them, it's still kinda open I guess, but most definitely I'm committed to Washington State by far," said West.

PLAYING FOR Mike Leach, in the Air Raid offense, is a big reason why West (5-8, 170) has circled back to Washington State.

A running back, West is likely to get his hands on the ball a lot coming out of the backfield in Mike Leach's passing system.

"He's an awesome coach, I believe in him and I would love to play for him. The things they have planned for me, it's just a great opportunity for me as well… the difference to me with the new staff is I'll be in the slot a lot more," said West.

WEST WILL TRIP to Wazzu this weekend. He had a recent in-home with WSU assistant Dennis Simmons and remains in close contact.

"We pretty much talk on a day to day basis," said West.

Washington State is far and away recruiting West the hardest these days, he said.

"I had been talking to Texas Tech and Arizona to talk about setting up some visits but nothing has happened on those. As of right now Washington state is the last visit," said West.
