Mike Leach dismisses DT from team

THE DEFENSIVE TACKLE position at Washington State has gotten a little thinner. One of the young freshman from this past season , T.J. Poloai, won't be returning as a member of the team, Cougfan.com has learned.

Poloai has been dismissed due to an unspecified violation of team rules, WSU SID Bill Stevens confirmed to CF.C.

Poloai (6-2, 275) redshirted this past season. He came to WSU out of Sacramento's Burbank High where he was named his conference's Lineman of the Year his senior campaign.

Defensive tackles on the WSU roster include Anthony Laurenzi (6-3, 297) and Kalafitoni Pole, who are expected to be atop the pre-spring depth chart, along with (6-1, 296), Justin Clayton (6-3.5, 281), Steven Hoffart (6-4, 276) and David Davis (6-2, 272). Xavier Cooper, (6-4, 268) is also a possibility to play inside, as is Darryl Paulo (6-2.5, 265).

Additionally, the Cougars could pick up a junior college d-tackle in the weeks before Signing Day. They have a verbal commitment in the form of Mississippian prepster Maurice Bennett (6-1, 295) for the 2012 class.
