Mike Leach wows Theron West on official visit

WASHINGTON STATE HAS long produced an impressive commit-to-official-visit ratio -- prospects come to the Palouse and strongly identify with the family atmosphere and Cougar football program. Mike Leach and staff look to be elevating that tradition as they wowed recruits recently during their first official visit weekend since coming on board at Wazzu. Take what Theron West had to say for example..

Theron West verballed to WSU when Paul Wulff was the head coach, opened things back up for a while and then, after talking to the new staff over the past few weeks, was climbing back on board with the Cougs. This past weekend looks to have sealed it for him.

"It was probably one of the best times I've ever had," said West. "It was great, I had an awesome time."

West (5-7, 170) comes from L.A. Harbor College and has three to play two. He is slippery and quick with the ball in his hands, and not surprisingly does some of his best work in space.

"I'll be doing returns and they also want me as a receiver, making catches in the slot and I'll be in the backfield… The coaches were awesome and we see eye to eye. The coaches have a great plan and I believe in it," said West.

WEST SAID THE college town atmosphere and environment at Washington State were "incredible", and talking X's and O's with Mike Leach had him ready to suit up now.

"It definitely (solidified things). It was something special, being there. Mike Leach is a great guy, every single coach on that coaching staff opened their arms to me and I can't say enough about them and Washington State.
