Miami DT trips to WSU this weekend

DEFENSIVE TACKLE PROSPECT Teko Powell, (6-2, 290) confirmed to CF.C he's taking an official visit to Washington State this weekend. The Miami product has a wicked first step and was named first team all-state (Class 5A) and all-county this past season as he led Norland High to the state title.

A lot of solid defensive tackles don't necessarily make the tackle but Powell spent this past season making plenty of impact plays from the interior of the line.

His nickname is TKO, which seems fitting since he had an extraordinary 107 tackles this season -- a number more often seen by a top notch linebacker or strong safety.

Powel was selected to play in the Semper Fi All American Bowl and was one of the top d-linemen all week for the West, says Scout.com's Jake Worthen.

He verbally committed to Illinois this month over offers from Wisconsin, West Virginia, Louisville and Rutgers according to Scout.com but has opened things back up with his visit to Wazzu this weekend.
