Seattle Prep standout will be at WSU Jr. Day

AMONG THOSE WHO will be in attendance for Washington State's Junior Day event on Saturday is a 5-11, 175-pounder out of Seattle Prep who already holds an offer from a Big Ten school. His particular skills set suggest he could play a variety of positions at the next level -- corner, safety, slot receiver or possibly even running back.

Tere Calloway is looking forward to his fact-finding trip to the Palouse this weekend.

"I've talked to coach (Eric) Russell and he's said they like me a lot. And then I've been talking to Mike Leach a bit on Facebook, too. Hopefully I'll get to find out a lot more about the new coaching staff when I'm over there," said Calloway.

CALLOWAY SAID Cougs like him as an athlete and potentially on either side of the ball. He said he'll play anywhere, though he said he has an affinity for playing cornerback.

Calloway received his first offer from Purdue back in Deccember.

"They saw my highlight tape and said they had to offer me after seeing it, I've been talking to them a lot…they want me to come visit soon. They offered me as an athlete on defense," said Calloway.

Calloway was named to the Northwest Nuggets In Waiting list by the Tacoma News Tribune for 2013.

CALLOWAY WILL BE taking unofficial trips next weekend down to the Oregon schools.

I've talked to coach Mike Riley and he wants to meet me in person. I really like Oregon State and I actually grew up mostly watching the Oregon schools. (Good friend) Caleb Saulo is down there as well," said Calloway.

AN IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION to his ultimate decision, Calloway said, will be how much of an impact he sees himself having at a particular school.

As a junior, he rushed for 1,179 yards on 109 carries with 20 TDs. As a defensive back, he posted 92 tackles with 10 pass breakups.

"I took an unofficial to UW (this month) and talked with coach Joel Thomas and coach (Steve) Sarkisian. They told me they want to offer me, but they want to offer me at corner and I don't have enough film of me playing corner yet…my film is pretty much all safety and running back. I'm going down to Las Vegas for the 7-on-7s and they said if my tape is good from that, then they'll offer me at corner," said Calloway.
