THE TOTAL NUMBER of Cougars who have played in the NFL runs to about 150. Cougfan.com has gone through the list, looked at the feats, crunched the numbers, and come up with the best of the best who toiled on football's biggest stage. In the second of a two-part photo series highlighting WSU's biggest contributions to the NFL, we today present our choices on offense.

Mind you now, this list is based on position. So when you wonder why a Super Bowl MVP and two-time Pro Bowler like Mark Rypien isn't featured, it's simply because we could only pick one QB and that guy was Drew Bledsoe.

QB DREW BLEDSOE: a 4-time Pro Bowler who ranks among the most prolific passers in NFL history (44,611 yards & 251 TDs). Youngest in history to hit 10,000 air yards. Retired in '07 after 14 seasons.

RB KEITH LINCOLN (pictured above): A perennial all-star for the San Diego Chargers in 1960s. Still holds NFL record for most yards from scrimmage in a playoff game. Amassed 40 TDs & nearly 7,000 total yards as a pro.

OL MEL HEIN: Known as the greatest center in the history of the game, college or pro, but also a star linebacker in his 14 star-studded years with the New York Giants. Voted NFL MVP in 1938. Member of Pro and College HoFs.

OL ROBBIE TOBECK: Played center and left guard in 13 seasons with Falcons and Seahawks. Started 166 regular-season games, plus 2 Super Bowls. Pro Bowler in '05. Named to all-time Seahawks team in '10.

OL GEORGE YARNO: A standout defensive tackle at WSU and later a WSU assistant coach, he spent 10 seasons in the NFL on offense between 1979-89, mostly with Tampa Bay. Started 73 games. Also played in the USFL.

OL LAURIE NIEMI: 18th overall pick in '49 draft. Two-time Pro Bowler playing tackle on both sides of ball for Redskins. Later coaches in NFL and for seven seasons at WSU.

OL DICK FARMAN: Before he became the pickle king he earned All-NFL honors three times in his five seasons with the Redskins. Played in NFL championship game three times, winning it all in '42.

K JASON HANSON: The 4th-leading scorer in NFL history. Also kicked more 50+-yard FGs than anyone in NFL history. Has league record for most games and seasons with one team. Two-time Pro Bowler.

P FRAN "PIE" POLSFOOT: Spent four seasons playing in the NFL before coaching in the league for 20. Named to 1951 Pro Bowl after catching 57 passes. Also punted that season, averaging 41 yards per.
