Cali JUCO corner high on WSU

WASHINGTON STATE HAS been talking to a junior college cornerback pretty much on a weekly basis since February. Mike Leach and Mike Breske like cornerbacks who can not only cover but also play strongly against the run, and he looks to fit that criteria nicely. Breske and area recruiter Dennis Simmons were at his school in Culver City, Calif. this past week.

Class of 2013 CB Chris Glover (6.0, 186) out of West Los Angeles City College does not hold a WSU offer yet. But that could change after his most recent transcripts become available for WSU to look over.

"They've been recruiting me since February..Coach Simmons and I talk to once or twice a week, he seems really cool, down to earth and I really like him," said Glover. "He wants to see about my classes and confirm I'll be a midyear graduate. They already have my last semester, where I got a 3.2 GPA but they want to see my latest (grades) when they come out.

"I'm doing well in all of my classes..their (academic counselor) has been in touch or had a meeting with my school so we're just kinda waiting on this semester's grades to come out. Coach Simmons says he wants me there, he saw my highlight tape, my grades are goods but he wants to be sure I stay on track to graduate at the end of the year."

GLOVER HOLDS OFFERS from UNLV and Western Michigan, with Pac-12 schools Colorado, Utah, ASU all showing increasing interest.

"Coach Simmons says he likes my cover skills and that I'm not afraid to come up and tackle," who added that WSU is at the top of his list.

"It's going to be exciting at Washington State, with the new coaching staff and Mike Leach there," said Glover.

Glover also has a crimson connection. He visited the Wazzu campus a couple years ago, when his cousin, Kevin Norrell, played there.

"I liked it a lot up there," said Glover, who prepped at Gardena High.

GLOVER IN eight games this past season as a freshman posted 19 tackles and two interceptions according to CCCAA stats. He has three-to-play-two at the next level and plans to receive his AA in December.
