WSU QB target doing evaluating of his own

THE MAY EVALUATION period, when schools hit the road to evaluate potential prospects, is in full swing but for many of the quarterbacks in the 2013 recruiting cycle, so too is their own research and evaluation process. One QB smack in the middle of that is Phoenix's Tyler Bruggman (6-2, 202). He is ranked 4 stars and the No. 20 prep QB prospect in the nation, and holds a Mike Leach offer.

Bruggman out of Brophy College Prep plans on making a decision sometime before school starts in the fall. He holds 11 offers, from Washington State, UCLA, Indiana, Michigan State, Arkansas, BYU, Arizona, Purdue, Arizona State, Colorado State and Iowa State.

"I talk to all of the schools pretty frequently. I'm continuing to build a rapport and learn about their programs," said Bruggman.

WITH THE COUGS, Bruggman says he primarily talks to area recruiter Eric Morris. And he gets on the phone with Leach from time to time, too.

"They're great , I think they're going to come by before the spring period is over… Coach Leach is obviously a fantastic offensive mind -- Washington State is a school I definitely like and I'm high on," said Bruggman.

Bruggman took a whirlwind unofficial visit tour to multiple schools back in April, including Washington State. He left open the door for a possible summer visit out to BYU, his latest offer, but said the bulk of his unofficial trips are done.

AS A JUNIOR, Bruggman completed 156 of 259 passes (60.2 percent) for 2,497 yards and 37 TDs. He threw only two interceptions all season.

He was named the Arizona Republic Player of the Year and to several first team All-State squads.

He is the No. 1 QB recruit in the state of Arizona for the 2013 class in's rankings.
