The Washington State defense simply did not had an answer for a Utah offense that hasn't exactly been prolific all season. Third-string quarterback Travis Wilson and his crew romped all over the hapless Cougars, putting up more than 400 yards of total offense -- more than double what Washington State was able to muster up.
It was a blow for the Cougars given that of the four games scheduled this month, this was the one they had the best chance of winning. The Utes entered the game 3-5 overall with just a single conference win, last week against California.
Play of the game: Washington State was able to stop Utah on its first possession. The Utes went three-and-out but the Cougars were unable to capitalize and went three-and-out, themselves, on their second drive.
Key play: John White IV's 47-yard touchdown in the first quarter gave the Utes momentum that they never relinquished.
Key stat: The Cougars amassed negative-4 rushing yards, while Utah put up 205.
