VERBAL: Leach closes on DL during in-home

MIKE LEACH CLOSED the deal on Thursday night with one of the Cougs' d-line targets as WSU increased by two their defensive line commitments on the day. College of San Mateo's Lyman Faoliu had thought he would wait a little longer before making his decision, closer to the Dec. 19 signing day for mid-year JUCO transfers. But with Leach in his living room on Thursday night, a decision was made.

Lyman Faoliu (6-2.5, 275) becomes the 20th known verbal commit in the 2013 class according to his junior college coach.

Fellow d-line prospect Emmitt Su'a-Kalio (6-4, 250) out of American Samoa became the 19th known verbal in the class earlier in the day. Faoliu hadn't returned phone messages and text messages as of late Thursday night. He held offers from WSU, Maryland, Oregon State, UNLV, Fresno State, San Joe State, Utah State and others.

Faoliu earlier told CF.C that WSU could use him at several spots -- 5-tech, d-end, 3-tech and more. He has three-to-play-two at the next level.

In 10 games this season as a sophomore at San Mateo, Faoliu racked up 46 tackles (19 solo), with 2.5 sacks, 3.5 tackles-for-loss, a fumble recovery and a pass break up.

While the commit list shows 20 pledges, WSU actually has 22 in the 2013 class when holdovers B.J. Salmonson (OL) and Robert Lewis (WR) are taken into account. Both signed last February and are scheduled to arrive and enroll at Washington State when the new school term begins in January.
