Multi-dimensional Cole Madison loves Pullman

H0W ATHLETIC IS All-State lineman and future Washington State Cougar Cole Madison? So athletic, that even at 6-foot-6 and 270 pounds, the notion of playing inside receiver in Mike Leach's Air Raid is still on the table. He talks about that, and more, following his official visit to WSU this past weekend.

Madison, out of Burien's Kennedy High, committed to Washington State way back in June. With just a few weeks left before signing day, he got around to taking his official visit.

"It was great, I loved it," said Madison. "I loved the staff, the guys, and the whole team. We got to see the facilities and the new weights. I really enjoyed myself."

Madison spent most of his free time with hosts and a few other in-state commits.

"I hung out with (Peyton) Pelluer, (Markell) Sanders and Matt (Meyer)," said Madison. "We spent most the time with the left tackle (Gunnar) Eklund, the center Elliot (Bosch) and Travis Long."

While he enjoyed his entire visit, it was easy for the 6-6 270-pound prospect to pick out a highlight.

"Meeting with Coach Leach was the highlight," said Madison. "Just talking one on one with him about what he expects for me next year."

So what are the head coaches' expectations?

"Just to get bigger, get stronger," said Madison. "Come in ready to win, win a lot of games next year."

Madison has always been solid with the Cougars, but it didn't stop other programs from gauging his interest.

"At first I heard a little from Arizona State and Washington," said Madison. "But once they knew I was strong with WSU then they stopped."

While it is clear he is headed to Pullman, it is unclear what he will be playing when he gets there. Scouts like him on the offensive line, while Madison said he spent time talking with the coaches about the inside receiver position. He has previously mentioned the staff likes him at defensive line.

Regardless, the Cougars are getting a talented prospect.

"I am playing basketball right now," said Madison. "Then after that just getting ready for Pullman."
