3-star CB switches things up, Cougs in front?

WITH LESS THAN 24 hours on the clock until signed LOIs start rolling in, the Cougs might not be done yet. Marcellus Pippins, a three-star cornerback appeared all but set to join another Pac-12 school. But he tells CF.C things have changed again, and he enters these final hours with WSU out in front.

Pippins out of El Cerrito, Calif. is no longer committed to Utah, he said.

The 5-11, 175-pound three-star CC said he will make his decision tomorrow evening and WSU is the frontrunner... right now.

"I just changed my mind a little bit ago," Pippins told CF.C moments ago. "I'm not sure where I'm headed tomorrow, but I'll make my decision at 5 p.m. Right now I'm down to Utah, Washington State and Nevada, but right now I'm leaning a little bit towards Washington State."

UPDATE: Scout.com's Greg Biggins says in an article on Pippins out today that both WSU and Utah have asked Pippins to grayshirt:

According to someone close to Pippins, Utah pulled Pippins' offer when he visited Washington State. Then following his visit to Pullman, the Cougars filled up at corner and didn't have a spot for Pippins either.

"Right now, both school have offered me a chance to greyshirt," Pippins told Biggins. "I haven't made a final decision yet between the two schools, I'm still trying to think things over. I know I'll still be able to sign tomorrow, even if I do greyshirt but right now, I'm kind of still trying to figure everything out."

Pippins took a trip to Pullman on Jan. 18 and said post trip that he loved everything about the WSU campus. It's still something that's in the back of his mind, Pippins said.

"I really like how it's a college town," he said. "It could be a great place to be and I really like it out there."

Pippins added that he is still interested in Nevada.

"I haven't taken a trip to Nevada yet, but I like how it's close, but not too close to home. They have a good up and coming program and they went to a bowl game this year."

As for his sudden change of heart with Utah?

"There were some things that went on with them during my recruitment," Pippins said. "There offer is still on the table though and I'm still considering them."

The El Cerrito High standout, who is rated the 79th best CB in the land by Scout.com, committed to Utah back on Oct. 10.

Pippins said he would contact CF.C as soon as he makes his final call and we'll be sure to keep you posted.
