WSU trims roster

WITH WSU NEEDING to get to the NCAA-mandated 105-player limit by the start of fall camp, the Cougs have recently trimmed their roster. Of the known departures, one is a scholarship athlete.

Niu Sale is among those no longer with the football program, multiple sources have confirmed to CF.C.

Sale, a promising JUCO transfer from the class of 2012, bounced between the offensive line and d-line at Wazzu but never quite found a home and battled injuries during his short WSU career.

He spent much of this spring on the scout team o-line and was frequently outmatched during the Crimson & Gray game last month.

Also departing is walk on quarterback Jesse Brown.

Brown was the No. 3 quarterback coming out of spring but WSU will be bringing in this summer a trio of walk on signal callers in Connor Ennis, Luke Falk and Domenic Rockey, as well as highly regarded scholarship QB Tyler Bruggman plus multi-dimensional athlete Isaac Dotson.

Among the other walk ons who are no longer with the program: RB Chris Boachie, WR Daniel McDonald and OL Cole Morgavi.
