Leach, WSU have more commits than ever before
Washington State as of May 31 already had five known commits in the 2014 class. The previous high water mark for the Cougs at this time of year was four.
How does the current number of commits compare to recent years?
2013 – 2
2012 – 1
2011 – 4
2010 – 3
SCOUT.COM SEEMS TO like the Cougs' early haul.
Although two commits, (QB Peyton Bender and WR Keith Harrington) have yet to be evaluated and rated by scout, the other three are all three stars.
WR Zaire Andre, whose offers included Nebraska and Houston, verballed to WSU on May 28.
LB Greg Hoyd chose WSU over offers from Utah and North Carolina State as well as others on May 13.
NT/DE Marcus Griffin went crimson at the tail end of April. His other offers included Arizona and Nevada, among others.
Meanwhile, Bender and Harrington figure to be rated before the end of this month, and probably closer to mid-June. Will they also be rated at least three stars when the latest ratings come out?
That's hard to predict. Bender went crimson so early, on March 30, he didn't have any other offers. But Penn State has since offered him.
As for Harrington, CF.C has confirmed with scout.com that he'll be (correctly) reclassified as a wide receiver by network by the time he's evaluated. He verballed to Wazzu offers from Arizona, Boise State, Wake Forest and others ON May 30.
Scout.com rankings are generally released six times over the course of the recruiting year:
Pre-evaluation in March
Post-evaluation in early June (the last NFTC this year is June 9)
Post-summer in late July/early August
Mid-senior season in October
Post- senior season in early December
and then the final-final ratings release comes in mid-January.
