Incoming Cougar is Times' Athlete of the Year

INCOMING COUGAR football player is the best of the best when it comes to high school athletes, says The Seattle Times. The defensive back/quarterback, who is scheduled to arrive at Washington State in a few weeks, has been named The Seattle Times Male High School Athlete of the Year.

In his just-concluded senior year at Newport High in Bellevue, Dotson was a two-way standout in football and a leading scorer in basketball.

He was a four-year varsity player in both sports.

He'll come to Washington State as an "athlete," with the possibility of playing safety, linebacker, receiver or quarterback, according to WSU coaches.

Last fall Dotson earned All-Area honors from the Seattle Times and was named first-team all-league at quarterback after rushing for more than 1,000 yards with 17 touchdowns. He also passed for 700-plus yards and seven TDs. On defense, he was a physical, hard-hitting safety.
