What happens when Scarlet meets Crimson?

WHAT HAPPENS when Scarlet meets Crimson? We'll find out in 2014 and 2015. WSU made it official on Wednesday, announcing a home-and-home series between Washington State and Rutgers. The Cougs will open the 2014 season in Seattle at CenturyLink Field against the Scarlet Knights on Aug. 28. Wazzu will then travel to New Jersey the following year, playing at Rutgers on Sep. 12, 2015.

The new deal changes WSU's non-conference schedule plans.

WSU said in a statement that, through mutual agreement, the Washington State-Wisconsin series -- originally scheduled for 2014 and 2015 -- has been pushed back all the way to 2022 and 2023.

The 2022 game will be played in Madison, the 2023 game is in Pullman.

Washington State in 2014 will open in Seattle against Rutgers, followed by a tilt at Nevada on Sep. 6, and then a home date vs. Portland State to complete their non-conference schedule.

In 2015, two of the three non-conference opponents are set with Wyoming at home (date and time TBD) and at Rutgers on Sep. 12, 2015.

The Cougs and Scarlet Knights have never met on the football field, which is not surprising given the geographic distance between the two schools.

"Adding two BCS opponents to those already on future nonconference schedules benefits our program and is sure to be appealing to our fans," said Moos. "Our 2014 schedule also allows us to bring five quality Pac-12 games (Arizona, USC, Cal, Oregon and Washington) to Pullman to showcase our newly completed facilities."
