NFL Cougar Highlights: Week Two

THE ALREADY GAUNT roster of Wazzu players on NFL rosters got even thinner this past week, as safety and special teams standout Eric Frampton was released by Dallas.

The Cowboys reached an injury settlement with Frampton, who suffered a groin injury in early August and was officially placed on injured reserve Sept. 4.

Regarded as one of the top special teams players in the NFL over the past few seasons, Frampton led the Cowboys with 21 special teams tackles last season. In addition, he started at the safety position for the club in the season's final two games.

Frampton was entering his seventh season in the NFL. He was originally drafted by Oakland in 2007, but suited-up for Detroit and Minnesota before joining Dallas early last season.

Here's how the NFL Cougs performed in week two:

Husain Abdullah, CB, Kansas City, 5th season: Posted one tackle and assisted on another in the Chiefs' 20-19 defeat of Dallas.

Jed Collins, FB, New Orleans, 5th season: No recorded stats from the Saints' 16-14 win over Tampa Bay.

Brandon Gibson, WR, Miami, 5th season: The Puyallup native caught one pass for 11 yards in the Dolphins' 24-20 win against Indianapolis.

Chris Ivory, RB, New York Jets, 4th season: Gained 52 yards on 11 carries in the Jets' 13-10 loss to New England on Thursday.

Rian Lindell, K, Tampa Bay, 14th season: The Vancouver native was true on two extra-point attempts, but missed a field goal try from 47 yards in the Bucs' 16-14 loss to the Saints.

Travis Long, LB, Philadelphia, 1st year: Did not play; assigned to the Eagles' practice squad.

Ropati Pitoitua, DE, Tennessee, 5th season: The Tacoma native tallied one solo tackle in the Titans' 30-24 overtime loss to Houston.

Jeff Tuel, QB, Buffalo, Rookie: No recorded stats from the Bills' 24-23 win against Carolina.

Marquess Wilson, WR, Chicago, Rookie: Declared inactive for the Bears' 31-30 victory against Minnesota.
