Future Cougars Report: Week 3

FUTURE COUGAR JORDAN ROSE was in town this past weekend but he wasn't there to visit WSU. Rose and his Freeman High teammates traveled down US-95 this past Friday to take on Pullman High, and Rose led the charge in a dominating win.

OT Jordan Rose; (6-6, 305); Freeman High; Rockford, Wash., Rose played on both sides of the ball in Freeman's 40-14 victory of Pullman. Rose did not allow a sack and pancaked two defenders. Rose led the offensive line of Freeman to the tune of 282 rushing yards, and Freeman added another 129 hashes though the air. On defense, Rose recorded four tackles (three solo) including a tackle for loss and swatted away three passes, one of which was intercepted by a teammate.

CB Kevin Griffin; (6-1, 180); De La Salle High; Concord, Calif., Griffin recorded eight tackles (two for loss) as De La Salle rolled to a 40-13 victory over host St. Mary's.

WR Calvin Green; (5-10, 175); Burbank (Luther) High; Sacramento: No. 7 Burbank was defeated by No. 5 Grant, 28-14. Green's statistics were unavailable.

OT Braden Eggert; (6-7, 315); Napa High; Napa, Calif., Eggert and Co. scored some points but couldn't slow down Casa Grande enough in a 31-19 loss.

CB Joseph Turner; (6-2, 190); College of San Mateo; San Mateo, Calif., Turner and company held Chabot College to 234 total yards in a 28-7 victory. Turner shut down his side of the field allowing no receptions according to reports and deflecting three passes. He had one tackle in the win.

LB Frank Luvu; (6-1.5, 205); Tafuna High; Pago Pago, American Samoa: Luvu had seven tackles, including four TFL, one quarterback hurry and a sack in Tafuna's 66-0 blowout win over Marist, Brandon Smart of Field House 100 in American Samoa tells us. There are no games on island for the next two weeks, Smart tells CF.C. Also, see below for a couple of photos.

K Tristan Vizcaino; (6-2, 190); Damien High; La Verne, Calif., Vizcaino is known for his foot but he more than lent the offense a hand in Damien's 49-14 victory. Vizcaino caught six passes for 82 yards -- with two touchdowns.

WR Keith Harrington; (5-8, 165); Northeast High; Saint Petersburg: Northeast looks to be in for a rough season after preseason transfers decimated the depth chart, (click here for more), as Northeast fell to 0-3 after a 17-0 loss against Boca Ciega. No stats were available on Harrington.

WR Zaire Andre; (6-0, 170); Inglewood High; Inglewood, Calif., Andre's stats were not available in a 55-12 loss to Stockdale. Inglewood and Andre lost the time of possession battle -- Stockdale's double-wing chewed up the clock with three RBs who all tallied 100-plus yards.

LB Greg Hoyd; (6-2, 200); Vista Murrieta High; Vista Murrieta, Calif., Hoyd recorded four tackles (three solo) and a hurry on the quarterback in Vista Murrieta's dominating 52-13 win over Yucaipa.

DT Marcus Griffin; (6-3, 292); Bellevue High; Bellevue: Bellevue mauled Bothell 49-6 and although Griffin's stats were unavailable, Bellevue's defense held Bothell to under 100 yards rushing in the victory.

QB Peyton Bender; (6-1, 175); Cardinal Gibbons High; Fort Lauderdale: Bender threw for 273 yards and 4 touchdowns on 19-of-29 passing in Cardinal Gibbons 31-0 win over Cooper City. Bender has thrown for four touchdowns in three consecutive games.

Luvu and Destiny Vaeao's mom after Tafuna's win. Vaeao's mom, says Smart, is still glowing from Washington State's win over USC two weeks ago.

Luvu, with his mom and Vaeao's mom, is all smiles after the win. There are no games on the island for the next two weeks, Smart tells CF.C.
