NFL Cougar Highlights: Week 6

THERE WAS BOUND to be some rust for Kansas City safety Husain Abdullah this year. After all, the Wazzu great gave up football last season at the prime age of 27 to make a pilgrimage to Mecca.

But there was nothing rusty about his performance on Sunday; in fact, it may have been the finest outing of his five year professional career. Abdullah quashed any remaining hopes Oakland had by returning an interception 44 yards for the camelback-breaking touchdown in the Chiefs 24-7 victory.

He also posted three tackles (2 solo), one QB hit, defensed a pass, and assisted on a sack. The Chiefs remain undefeated with a 6-0 record.

Here's how the NFL Cougs performed in week six:

Husain Abdullah, CB, Kansas City, 5th season: See above.

Jed Collins, FB, New Orleans, 5th season: Carried the ball once for a one yard gain and caught a pass for another 3 yards in the Saints' 30-27 loss to New England.

Brandon Gibson, WR, Miami, 5th season: Did not play; bye week.

Chris Ivory, RB, New York Jets, 4th season: Ran the ball four times for 16 yards in the Jets' 19-6 loss to Pittsburgh.

Rian Lindell, K, Tampa Bay, 14th season: The Vancouver native was perfect on two extra points and a pair of field goal attempts (long of 38 yards) in the Bucs' 30-21 loss to Philadelphia.

Travis Long, LB, Philadelphia, 1st year: Did not play; assigned to the Eagles' practice squad.

Ropati Pitoitua, DE, Tennessee, 5th season: The Tacoma native recorded a sack for the third consecutive week and posted three tackles in the Titans 20-13 loss to Seattle.

Jeff Tuel, QB, Buffalo, Rookie: No recorded stats from the Bills' 27-24 overtime loss to Cincinnati.

Marquess Wilson, WR, Chicago, Rookie: Active for the second consecutive week, but no recorded stats from the Bears' 27-21 win against the Giants on Thursday.
