NFL Cougar Highlights: Week Seven

MIAMI DOLPHINS receiver Brandon Gibson has made more than his share of memorable catches over his collegiate and professional career. Reference the 2007 Apple Cup as a prime example. But his first of two touchdown catches on Sunday just might rank as his most spectacular.

Despite being hobbled by a hip injury — he was upgraded from doubtful to questionable just 24 hours prior to game time —the Cougar great went airborne for his first TD of the season. Gibson leapt over one Bill, went ass-over-teakettle and almost stuck his landing into the end zone.

Gibson has clearly proven to be a good fit with the Dolphins, catching 29 passes through six games and on pace to make 77 receptions over the course of the season.

Here's how the NFL Cougs performed in week seven:

Husain Abdullah, CB, Kansas City, 5th season: Posted one solo tackle in the Chiefs' 17-16 win against Houston. KC remains undefeated at 7-0.

Jed Collins, FB, New Orleans, 5th season: Did not play; bye week.

Brandon Gibson, WR, Miami, 5th season: Caught five passes—2 for touchdowns—for 40 yards in the Dolphins' 23-21 loss to Buffalo.

Chris Ivory, RB, New York Jets, 4th season: Rushed for 104 yards (long of 17) on 34 carries and caught one pass for minus-2 yards in the Jets' 30-27 overtime victory against New England.

Rian Lindell, K, Tampa Bay, 14th season: The Vancouver native was perfect on three field goal attempts (long of 41 yards) and 2 extra point tries in the Bucs 31-23 fall to Atlanta. Tampa remains winless at 0-6..

Travis Long, LB, Philadelphia, 1st year: Did not play; assigned to the Eagles' practice squad.

Ropati Pitoitua, DE, Tennessee, 5th season: The Tacoma native recorded four tackles (2 solo) in the Titans' 31-17 loss to San Fran. He did not record a sack, ending his streak at 3.

Jeff Tuel, QB, Buffalo, Rookie: No recorded stats from the Bills' 23-21 victory against Miami. Tuel was officially the Bills' number two quarterback, despite the club's signing of Matt Flynn.

Marquess Wilson, WR, Chicago, Rookie: Caught one pass for 3 yards in the Bears' 45-41 loss to Washington. It was his first reception as a pro.
