Future Cougars Report: Week 10

PULLMAN -- When you look up the word "playmaker" in the dictionary, one Cougar verbal commit should have his portrait stapled, glued, taped or sewn into Webster's flimsy folio – he just continues to post garish outputs every time he touches the rock. And for one linebacker, his tackle numbers are reaching astronomical heights.

WR Calvin Green; (5-10, 175); Burbank (Luther) High; Sacramento, Calif. Green put up more gaudy numbers in Burbank's 63-0 drubbing of Valley. Green tallied 73 rushing yards on just three attempts. He also picked up 115 yards through the air, as well as two touchdowns to boot.

LB Chandler Leniu; (6-1, 225); St. John Bosco High; Bellflower, Calif., Although stats were not available at press time for St. John Bosco's 24-2 win over Mater Dei, Leniu's stats for last week are in. Last week, Leniu posted 15 tackles, combined on a sack and had an interception in the win over Sierra Catholic. Leniu has 125 tackles this year and is averaging 15.6 per game according to maxpreps. Leniu is credited with 413 tackles in his prep career… and he only had five his freshman campaign.

WR Zaire Andre; (6-0, 170); Inglewood High, Inglewood, Calif., Andre again played quarterback for Inglewood, but struggled to find any consistency in their 21-0 loss to Santa Monica. Andre was 6 for 20 for 67 yards and two interceptions. He'd add ten yards on seven carries on the ground.

K Tristan Vizcaino; (6-2, 190); Damien High; La Verne, Calif., Vizcaino connected on his only field goal attempt in Damien's 42-24 loss to South Hills; a 20-yarder. Vizcaino would average 39 yards on three punts, and connected on all three PATs.

LB Greg Hoyd; (6-2, 200); Vista Murrieta High; Vista Murrieta, Calif., Stats were not available for Hoyd in Vista Murrieta's 43-14 win over Murrieta Mesa, though multiple reports said Hoyd was in the backfield creating havoc all night.

DT Marcus Griffin; (6-3, 292); Bellevue High; Bellevue, For the seventh time this season, Griffin did not finish the game due to a lopsided score. In one half against Mercer Island, Griffin tallied three tackles, all three of which went for a loss, as well as 1.5 sacks. Bellevue would go on to win 49-7.

CB Kevin Griffin; (6-1, 180); De La Salle High; Concord, Calif., Griffin collected one tackle in De La Salle's 35-7 win over Monte Vista.

OT Braden Eggert; (6-7, 315); Napa High; Napa, Calif., Eggert and crew took down Armijo 60-13. Eggert helped pave the way for four rushing touchdowns and over 200 rushing yards on the evening.

CB Joseph Turner; (6-2, 190); College of San Mateo, San Mateo, Calif., Turner was not credited with any statistics in San Mateo's 28-20 loss to Butte.

WR Keith Harrington; (5-8, 165); Northeast High; St Petersburg, Fla., Stats for Harrington were not available after Northeast lost to East Lake 49-6.

LB Frank Luvu; (6-1, 205); Tafuna High; Pago Pago, American Samoa: Tafuna did not play this week.

OL Sean Krepsz; (6-5, 295); Martin Luther King High; Riverside, Calif., Krepsz tallied one tackle and helped pave the way for 160 rushing yards for King, though they'd eventually fall to Norco 34-31.

Peyton Bender (6-1, 175); Cardinal Gibbons High; Fort Lauderdale: Bender was 9 of 18 on the day with one touchdown and two interceptions, but ultimately left the game with a broken collarbone right before halftime. The injury ends Bender's season. He finished the year 167 of 256 for 2,184 yards, with 28 touchdowns against just six interceptions and was sacked 15 times. Cardinal Gibbons has at least two more games remaining. You can read CF.C's full report on Bender's final game: HERE
