NFL Cougar Highlights: Week 10

LIVING IN THE professional shadow of fellow Wazzu alum Jason Hanson—at least among Cougfans—Tampa Bay kicker Rian Lindell has quietly become one of the most prolific scorers in NFL history.

How prolific? Early in the 2013 campaign, the Cougar great bumped Hall-of-Famer Jerry Rice out as the league's 30th all-time scoring leader and is the sixth leading scorer among active players.

Lindell scored eight points in Monday night's contest versus Miami, connecting on two extra-points and two field goals in the Bucs win. His effort pushed him past the 1,300 mark at 1,304.

More importantly to Lindell, his teammates, and Tampa Bay fans, the Bucs 22-19 defeat of the Dolphins was their first victory of the season.

As for ever having bragging rights over Hanson, that would seem to be a statistical improbability. The lifetime Detroit Lion retired last year after 21 seasons with 2,150 points, third best all-time.

MEANWHILE, THE curious rookie season of Buffalo quarterback Jeff Tuel had another first on Sunday. Just one week after starting for the Bills, the Washington State alum was not on Buffalo's active roster for their contest with Pittsburgh. It marked the first time he's been scratched this season.

Here's how the NFL Cougs performed in week 10:

Husain Abdullah, CB, Kansas City, 5th season: Did not play' bye week.

Jed Collins, FB, New Orleans, 5th season: No recorded stats from the Saints' 49-17 drubbing of Dallas.
