BREAKING: Much-sought OL goes crimson

THE COUGS ARE racking up the verbal commitments. The latest to go crimson is Miguel Machado, a 6-6, 285-pound junior college offensive lineman out of Pasadena who had 20-plus offers. He chose the Cougs over BCS-bowl bound Michigan State plus Louisville, Illinois, Purdue and others.

Miguel Machado's cell phone battery has gone dead -- CF.C was only able to talk to him for a few moments.

But he's Wazzu-bound.

Michigan State and Louisville both made a strong push, but Washington State's coaching staff made the difference, as did the new facilities. Paul Volero was the recruiting point man on Machado for Washington State.

Machado, who will line up at offensive tackle for WSU, officially visited the Cougs the weekend they held Utah, leading the nation in sacks, without one and became bowl eligible.

Machado has 3-to-play-2 and told CF.C earlier that he is on pace to get his AA in the spring.

Machado is the second verbal commitment of the day for WSU, joining Nick Begg. Two days ago, OT Brandon Evers verballed to Mike Leach. Two days before that, OT Andre Dillard pledge Wazzu.

Machado becomes the 17th* known verbal commit for the WSU class of 2014, joining OL/HB Nick Begg, OL Andre Dillard, S Darren Gardenhire, DT Ngalu Tapa, LB Chandler Leniu, OL Sean Krepsz, LB Frank Luvu, CB Joseph Turner, K Tristan Vizcaino, CB Kevin Griffin, WR Calvin Green, WR Keith Harrington, WR Zaire Andre, LB Greg Hoyd and QB Peyton Bender. Three more who delayed their enrollment at WSU from the 2013 recruiting class pool – CB Markell Sanders, CB Marcellus Pippins and BUCK/DL Dylan Hanser -- are expected to arrive in January, boosting to *20 the number of known future Cougs in the 2014 crop.

We'll have more a little later on…
