VERBAL: Cougs add another touted WR to class

SINCE HIS OFFICIAL VISIT to Washington State on Jan. 17, there had been much speculation as to whether or not wide receiver Barry Ware would commit to the Cougs. On Sunday evening, however, the three-star WR put the chatter to rest and announced that he'll suit up for Mike Leach and WSU's Air Raid offense next season.

Corona, Calif. three-star WR Barry Ware is a Coug.

"I am officially committed to Washington state WAZZZZZUUUU BLESSED," Ware announced on his twitter account moments ago.

The 6-3, 205-pounder committed to Washington State over offers from Fresno State (tripped there this weekend) and Utah, and was one time committed to UCLA before opening up his recruitment in December.

THE FUTURE COUG will line up as an outside receiver for WSU, a position where he put up video game type numbers in 2013. The three-star prospect is coming off a monstrous season for Centennial High, where he hauled in 56 receptions for 1,211 yards and 17 touchdowns.

"At 6-3, 205 pounds, Ware is a big target with good speed," Scout.com National Recruiting Analyst Greg Biggins said of Ware earlier this winter. "He's a physical receiver who can create separation with his size and is very good in jump ball situations.

He'll be a dangerous red zone threat but runs well enough to stretch the field as well."

WARE'S VERBAL TO WAZZU makes him the fifth wide receiver to commit for the class of 2014. Ware joins inside receivers Calvin Green and Keith Harrington and fellow outside receivers Zaire Andre and Ronald Monroe.

With Ware now joining the coup, WSU has added a lot of depth and talent to the receiving core. All five WR commits are rated three stars by Scout.com and although Monroe is listed as a quarterback and Harrington a running back, they'll both arrive to WSU as receivers.

Washington State now has 25 known members in the class of '14, with Ware joining CB Patrick Porter, CB Sulaiman Hameed, WR Ronald, Monroe, DE Hercules Mata'afa, DE Kingston Fernandez, RB Squally Canada, OL Miguel Machado, OL Brandon Evers, OL/HB Nick Begg, OL Andre Dillard, DT Ngalu Tapa, OL Sean Krepsz, LB Frank Luvu, CB Joseph Turner, CB Kevin Griffin, WR Calvin Green, WR Keith Harrington, WR Zaire Andre, LB Greg Hoyd and QB Peyton Bender. WR Sebastian LaRue enrolled at WSU last week and three others, S Markell Sanders, CB Marcellus Pippins and LB/DE Dylan Hanser, enrolled at WSU earlier in the month.
