Cougs '14 class features speed in the pattern

AMONG THE AREAS of emphasis in the Cougs' 2014 class are defensive backs (6) and receivers (5). And with Mike Leach and recruiting, he's always looking to address two things…

Speed and athleticism.

The Cougs have gotten faster since Leach arrived in Pullman but they also need to get faster still. That's one reason why there are a good number of defensive backs and wide receivers.

FORTY TIMES ON the internet (shockingly) have been inflated for years but among those future Coug wideouts whose tape shows a decided speed advantage: Calvin Green. His "Flash" nickname is well deserved. And Keith Harrington has some quicks.

Barry Ware, for as big as he is, (6-3, 205) is going to create problems for defenses who don't respect his speed. And while he's not technically a verbal commit, transfer Sebastian LaRue is one fast playmaker.

OVER AT DEFENSIVE BACK, Marcellus Pippins and Patrick Porter are both athletic and fast.

And don't sleep on Kevin Griffin or Sulaiman Hameed either.
