Cougs will host Eastern Washington in '18 too

WASHINGTON STATE already had Eastern Washington on the schedule for 2016, but they've now added the Eagles to the 2018 slate as well. In more recent times, Eastern knocked off Oregon State this past season.

And the Eagles have proven a tough foe beyond the Oregon State upset last year. They barely lost to Washington State 24-20 in 2012 and the year before, they all but pulled off the upset against UW in a 30-27 loss. In both games, the Husky game in particular, they decisively won the total yards battle -- (EWU 469 – WSU 355); (EWU 504 – UW 250).

EWU holds a .718 winning percentage the last six seasons, including an FCS Championship in 2010.

The WSU-EWU game announced Wednesday is scheduled for Sept. 15, 2018 in Martin Stadium.

"Eastern Washington has built a tremendous program over the years and continuing this series is of great appeal for college football fans throughout the Pacific Northwest," said Bill Moos in a statement released by WSU.

The Cougars and Eagles will also meet Sept. 3, 2016 in Pullman.

Washington State has won all three previous meetings in the series, including the 24-20 victory in 2012 in Pullman, the first victory for Mike Leach as the Cougar head coach. The two other meetings saw the Cougars post wins of 46-0 and 73-0 in 1907 and 1908, respectively.
