WSU at track and field crossroads

WASHINGTON STATE once upon a time built a formidable distance running program. The Palouse was where Kenyan runners came, where they excelled. That was yesteryear, a long time ago. With Rick Sloan retiring after two decades as head coach, John Blanchette of the Spokesman-Review writes that the Cougars have a chance to move the needle, to build something once again in track and field.

It won't be easy. What worked before, won't work any longer. Track and field has changed, and whomever Bill Moos hires will need to have a different recipe for success.
