Cougs offer big-legged K after up-close look

WASHINGTON STATE OFFERED a big-legged kicker/punter who was out at the satellite camp WSU coaches were working Sunday in Danville, Calif. Matt Abramo out of Petaluma's Casa Grande High was last season named NBL Kicker of the Year, First-Team All-Empire Large School and Honorable Mention All-Metro. He booted nearly 80 percent of his kickoffs for touchbacks this past season.

"Washington State has offered our kicker Matt Abramo Casa Grande (Petaluma) 6/3 185 as a combo kicker/punter. They offered him out of (their) camp that they had today at Monte Vista in Danville," Casa Grande coach Trent Herzog told's Scott Eklund through direct messaging.

Abramo also holds offers from San Jose State, Yale, Cornell, Brown and Air Force.

"I'm so excited right now," Abramo later texted CF.C. "It was awesome to kick for the coaches. I can't wait to get up there and check out the campus!

"I'm going to try and visit in early July with my parents."

Out of 65 kickoffs this past season, he had 52 touchbacks.

His longest in-game made field goal is 44 yards, but says he's hit up to 60-yarders with consistency in practice.

Abramo was 10-for-16 this past season on field goals and 33-for-37 on PATs.

He has a 4.17 GPA and plans to major in civil engineering.
