Drive chart: Cougars move ball, points absent

CONNOR HALLIDAY again produced gaudy statistics — 38 of 57 passes for 389 yards — but it was not enough to overcome a slow roll in Washington State’s 24-13 loss Friday at Nevada. The Cougars’ defense played well for three quarters but also failed to come up with key fourth-quarter stops as the Wolf Pack scored 10 fourth-quarter points and signal-caller Cody Fajardo ran for 100 yards.

Nevada 7-0
1:18: Don Jackson 1-yard run. Key play: Kendall Johnson returns Connor Halliday interception 45 yards to WSU’s 12-yard line.

10:59: James Butler 1-yard run. Key plays: On third-and-4 from his own 37, quarterback Cody Fajardo runs for 55 yards to the Cougars’ 8. Also, a questionable pass-interference penalty on third goal gave the Wolf Pack a fresh set of downs.

7:15: Vince Mayle 13-yard pass from Halliday. Key plays: All five plays on the drive went for at least 11 yards.

NEVADA 14-10
1:58: Erik Powell 25-yard FG. Key plays: Mayle caught a pair of third-down passes to extend the drive.

NEVADA 21-10
12:15: Jackson 2-yard run. Key plays: On third-and-11 from Nevada’s 38, Fajardo found Hasaan Henderson for a 22-yard completion. The Wolf Pack converted another third down at the WSU 31 on a 4-yard run by Jackson. But the most significant conversion came on fourth-and-1 on WSU’s 3 when Jackson gained a yard.

NEVADA 21-13
9:35: Quentin Breshears 38-yard FG. Key play: Mayle caught a 13-yard pass from Halliday down to Nevada’s 34.

NEVADA 24-13
4:29: Ben Zuzo 40-yard FG.
