Recruiting: Pair of new WSU offers out

DURING THE BYE WEEK, the Cougar staff spent a good amount of time out on the recruiting trail. And on Monday evening, two new prospects picked up crimson offers. In addition, CF.C also spoke with a pair of touted defensive players who confirmed they’ll be in Pullman this weekend on official visits as the Cougs host No. 15 Arizona (Pac-12 Networks; 3 p.m.)

Defensive end Brendon Hayes and cornerback Tyler Horton picked up WSU scholie offers.

Hayes is a 6-4, 240-pound defensive end from New Orleans. In addition to WSU, the Brother Martin High prospect also holds offers from Mississippi State, Southern Miss and others.



Horton announced on his Twitter page that the Cougs sent an offer his way.

"All love what can i say i just landed another Pac 12 offer from Washington State," he tweeted.

In addition to WSU, Horton's offers include rides from Cal, Boise State and Colorado State. He is ranked three stars and the No. 93 cornerback prospect in the country by Scout.com.

AS FOR OFFICIAL VISITS, CF.C spoke with both George Lea and Philip Afia and each confirmed they’ll be in Pullman this weekend. Lea, who checks in at 6-3, 275-pounds, is being recruiting by WSU as a defensive tackle.

The New Orleans product holds known offers from Washington State, Arizona State, Kansas State, Colorado, Southern Miss, Utah and Tulsa. This weekend will be Lea’s first official visit.

Afia, a 6-2, 190-pounder, is rated three stars and the No. 58 safety prospect nationally. He holds double-digit offers, including rides from Washington State, Oregon State, Utah, Boise State, Fresno State. Afia has already taken a visit to Utah and told Scout’s Greg Biggins that he’ll trip to Oregon State on Nov. 1.



NOTABLE NOTE:
Another prospect to keep an eye on: Louisville verbal commit Kareem Orr. CF.C spoke briefly with the Chattanooga, Tenn., product on Monday evening and he said he is planning on taking an official visit to Washington State later this season. A date for that trip has not been set up yet.
