Hoops: Cougs picked to finish 11th by media

WASHINGTON STATE in Ernie Kent's first season were picked by the media to finish 11th in the conference, ahead of Oregon State and behind No. 10 USC.

WSU returns three starters in DaVonte Lacy (pictured above), Dexter Kernich-Drew and Jordan Railey. Key contributors include Que Johnson, ke Iroegbu and Junior Longrus.

Washington State was picked to finish 11th with 84 points by media members who cover Pac-12 men’s basketball in the poll. Arizona was picked to finish first with 31 first-place votes and 383 points.

Utah was picked second (317 points), Colorado third (316 points), UCLA fourth (290 points) and Stanford fifth (264 points). The rest of the poll has Washington at sixth (189), California seventh (188), Oregon eighth (159), Arizona State ninth (155), USC 10th (106) and Oregon State 12th (45).

Media have correctly picked the Pac-12 conference winner 13 times in 22 tries.

The Cougars host Azusa Pacific in exhibition action on Friday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. at Beasley Coliseum, before opening the season the following week at UTEP, Friday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. PT. No TV has been announced for either game.
