NFL Cougar Highlights: Week 10

DETROIT LIONS FULLBACK Jed Collins caught two passes for 30 yards on Sunday — an uncharacteristically high tally of hashes for the short-yardage specialist. Better still for the former Washington State standout, the Lions’ victory gave him bragging rights over his former Cougar teammate, Dolphins receiver Brandon Gibson.

The bulk of Collins' yardage came on a completion from Detroit punter Sam Martin on a fake punt that Collins (pictured above) took for 24 yards, extending the first Lions drive of the game.

Gibson, meanwhile, caught two passes for 20 yards in Miami’s 20-16 loss.

Here’s how the rest of the NFL Cougs performed in week 10:

Husain Abdullah, S, Kansas City, 6th season: Made four solo tackles in the Chiefs’ 17-13 victory over Buffalo.

Deone Bucannon, S, Arizona, Rookie: Recorded five tackles (4 solo), including a sack, in the Cardinals’ 31-14 win against St. Louis.

John Fullington, T, San Francisco, rookie: Did not play; assigned to the 49ers’ practice squad.

Chris Ivory, RB, New York Jets, 5th season: Ran the ball 14 times for 51 yards in the Jets’ 20-13 defeat of Pittsburgh.

Travis Long, LB, Philadelphia, 1st year: Did not play; on injured reserve.

Ropati Pitoitua, DE, Tennessee, 6th season: The Tacoma native posted three tackles (1 solo) in the Titans’ 21-7 loss to Baltimore.

Jeff Tuel, QB, Buffalo, 2nd season: Did not play; assigned to the Bills’ practice squad.

OF NOTE: Chicago’s Marquess Wilson, another former Cougar receiver, returned to practice on Wednesday for the first time since breaking his collar bone on Aug. 4. The Bears have until Nov. 26 to activate him or he will spend the remainder of the season on the injured reserve list.
