NFL Cougar Highlights: Week 17

THE NFL REGULAR season concluded on Sunday and so did the year for most of the Washington State alums on league rosters. However, fullback Jed Collins and safety Deone Bucannon will suit up for the first round of playoffs next weekend, despite both of their clubs losing their finales.

Collins ran the ball once for three yards and caught a pass for another 6 in Detroit’s 30-20 loss to Green Bay. The defeat means the Lions will travel to Dallas to face the Cowboys next weekend.

Arizona’s loss—coupled with Seattle’s victory—sends the Cardinals to Carolina as the No. 5 seed. Bucannon made four tackles (one solo) in the Cardinals 20-17 loss to San Francisco.

Here’s how the rest of the NFL Cougs performed in week 17:

Husain Abdullah, S, Kansas City, 6th season: Posted six tackles (4 solo) in the Chiefs’ 17-9 victory against San Diego.

John Fullington, T, San Francisco, rookie: Did not play; assigned to the 49ers’ practice squad.

Brandon Gibson, WR, Miami, 6th season: The Puyallup native caught three passes for 27 yards in the Dolphins’ 37-24 loss to the Jets .

Chris Ivory, RB, New York Jets, 5th season: Ran the ball 13 times for 29 yards and scored on an 8 yard reception in the Jets’ win against New England.

Travis Long, LB, Philadelphia, 1st year: Did not play; on injured reserve.

Ropati Pitoitua, DE, Tennessee, 6th season: The Tacoma native was declared inactive for the Titans’27-10 fall to Indianapolis.

Jeff Tuel, QB, Buffalo, 2nd season: Did not play; assigned to the Bills’ practice squad.

Marquess Wilson, WR, Chicago, 2nd season: Caught two passes for 18 yards in the Bears’ 13-9 loss to Minnesota.
