WASHINGTON STATE used an impressive inside game against Cal (11-4) to pull off a major upset on Sunday. Josh Hawkinson posted another double-double and Jordan Railey scored a career high in leading the Cougs to the 69-66 victory, snapping a 15-game Pac-12 road game losing streak.

Washington State (7-7) didn't look like a young team with a lead coming down the stretch against Cal. (Well, not until the very end, anyway.)

Up 68-64 with the ball and seconds remaining, the Cougs called a timeout they didn't have when Ike Iroegbu couldn't find anyone on the inbounds. The resulting two technical free throws awarded Cal closed the score to 68-66. DaVonte Lacy hit one of two free throws and Cal's desperation heave fell short.

But with Klay Thompson in attendance, WSU hit their free throws down the stretch and played smart second half basketball in playing with the lead. They also played rock solid defense for long stretches in the upset win, holding Cal unofficially to 37.9 percent shooting from the floor.

A confident Jordan Railey scored 17 points on 7-14 shooting and Josh Hawkinson led the Cougs with 18 points (6-10) and 13 rebounds.

DaVonte Lacy and Iroegbu were also ion double figures with 14- and 12-points, respectively
