Will rising Dallas CB visit WSU this month?

IT’S BEEN ONE heck of a week for cornerback Antoine Stephens. Who, you ask? The Lone Star State prospect who has added five offers in the last three days, including one from Washington State. CF.C spoke with the 6-2, 190-pounder about the Cougs, his official visit plans and more ...

Stephens (pictured above) is on a roll. After picking up his first offer from SMU on Jan. 1, the Kimball High standout has added offers from WSU, Baylor, Oklahoma, Louisville, Texas Tech.

Stephens said he was at a loss to explain the sudden surge of offers over the last week. “With my recruitment, my phone has kind of been blowing up,” Stephens said with a laugh. “This has been exciting for me and it’s really a blessing.

The crimson offer was one Stephens says he didn’t expect would roll in, but he's certainly glad it did.

“With Washington State, they first reached out to me in early December. I was speaking with Jarrail Jackson and he was just telling me about the school and stuff. I wasn’t sure if they’d offer, but he contacted me on Twitter and asked me to call him. I thought it would just be a normal conversation, but he offered and it felt amazing.”

(Jackson and Graham Harrel, as allowed by the NCAA and reported by CF.C in December and linked below, were designated to perform the roles and duties of an assistant coach after DC Mike Breske and OLB coach Paul Volero were let go.)

BEING FROM Texas, Stephens said he’s been a fan of Mike Leach’s since his days in Lubbock with Texas Tech. Now that Leach is in Pullman, though, it adds to his intrigue in the Cougs.

“I’ve always liked him,” Stephens said of Leach. “It’s a pretty big blessing for me to get a Pac-12 offer. It was really awesome when I got it. The Pac-12 is where it’s at. It’s such a great conference.”

Stephens is scheduled to visit Oklahoma on Jan. 16, leaving the weekends of Jan. 23 and Jan. 30 for official visits before signing day. Will he take a trip to Pullman before he inks a National Letter of Intent?

“I’m strongly considering taking a visit over there,” Stephens said. “I don’t know for sure at the moment, though. I’ll try my best to make that happen. Right now, I’ll be visiting Oklahoma on the 16th. I’ll be setting up visits for the following weekends soon.

“I don’t know where I’m going yet, but I’m considering taking visits to SMU, WSU and Texas Tech. SMU was my first offer and they’ve been on me for a while, so I’d like to get over there. I’ll figure everything out soon.”

As for what he’s looking for in a school?

“Education is really big for me,” he said. “I also want to make sure I have a really good relationship with the coaches and I enjoy the campus.”
