AN INSPIRED PERFORMANCE across the board saw Washington State shock Washington 80-77 on Saturday in the Apple Cup of Hoops.

You had Que Johnson and Brett Boese coming off the bench to keep the Cougs in it the first half when the regulars weren't scoring. Boese (11 points) drilled three treys in the game, and Johnson (15 points) did the same. Boese also had three assists.

DaVonte Lacy exploded in the second half with 20 points -- he finished with 25. And he six free throws in a row in the final moments to seal the win. Indeed, WSU shot a sterling 15-16 from the line.

Ike Iroegbu was dazzling at times, breaking ankles with a deadly crossover and dishing five assists while scoring 13. Ny Redding dished three assists of his own.

Josh Hawkinson couldn't find his range in the first half, going 0-6. But in the second half he was 3-3, finishing with 10 rebounds and eight points.

We'll have much more a little later on ...
