Are you ready for spring ball at WSU?

SPRING FOOTBALL AT Washington State is less than a week away. While other programs across the country will be making a number of tweaks on offense or even installing something very new on that side of the ball, Mike Leach will be doing something else entirely.

Repetition.

The Air Raid is not overly complex. There aren’t a lot of different protection schemes on the offensive line. There aren’t a whole lot of plays in the Air Raid compared to other offenses.

While spring is about experimentation from a personnel standpoint, everything else when it comes to the Air Raid is about drilling a lot of the same plays over and over again. The idea is that you can execute, perfectly, a smaller number of plays than you can a larger, more complex number of them.

Technique and execution – down to the most minute of details. That’s what’s on the menu this spring on offense. It always has been for Mike Leach.

The first two days of the spring are NCAA-mandated helmets only sessions, after which the pads go on.

The Cougars are scheduled to practice Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at Martin Stadium and/or Rogers Field:
