WSU Recruiting: Leach offers TCU QB verbal

SINCE ARRIVING TO Washington State, Mike Leach and his staff have consistently traveled to Texas to try and find future Cougs. And on Monday night, another Lone Star State prospect added a crimson offer. Three-star quarterback Brennen Wooten, out of San Angelo, Texas, was offer by the Cougars. Wooten, a TCU commit, certainly has a cannon on him. Can Leach pull off a flip?

On Monday evening, Brennen Wooten (pictured above) indeed picked up a scholarship offer from the Cougs, announcing on his Twitter account that WSU joined his list of offers. Checking in at 6-2, 180-pounds, Wooten may not be the biggest quarterback, but his right arm is an impressive one. The Texas native has a rocket for an arm, which is showcased in his highlight tape below.

WOOTEN COMMITTED TO TCU in late July, picking the Horned Frogs over offers from Boise State, Clemson, Houston, Tulsa, Kentucky and a few others. WSU is the latest to send a scholarship his way, though, and with Leach's history at Texas Tech and his ability to mold young quarterbacks, this could certainly be something to watch.

In a recent interview with Scout's Annabel Stephan, however, Wooten said he is rock solid in his verbal to TCU. It looks like Leach and his staff have some major work to do if they want to flip Wooten's commitment.

“I am hearing from a few programs, and I listen to what other coaches say, but I am fully committed to TCU," Wooten told Stephan. "I’ve let those coaches know that I am committed to TCU."

Wooten had a monster year in 2014, throwing for more than 3,300 yards and 25 touchdowns. He added 10 more scores on the ground.

AS FOR OTHER WSU quarterback targets, April is going to be a big month unofficial visit wise for the Cougar staff. Four-star signal caller Devon Modster is set to visit WSU on April 3, while three-star quarterback Ian Book will be taking his unofficial visit to campus on April 7. Both quarterbacks have been offered by Leach.

In addition to Wooten, Book and Modster, WSU also has also sent out quarterback offers this cycle to Matt Fink, Malik Henry, Jacob Eason and in-state QB Justus Rogers, though his offer was an an athlete.
