Cougfan TV: Leach sizes up QBs on Day 3

PULLMAN -- Washington State coach Mike Leach, not unexpectedly, has yet to announce a leader in what appears an open competition to become the Cougars next starting quarterback. But Leach is already impressed with the way Luke Falk and Peyton Bender are managing the Air Raid offense. He talked about both, the offensive line and much more Tuesday, as WSU donned pads for the first time this spring.

Among the other topics discussed were new defensive coordinator Alex Grinch's nickel package, the play of wide receivers Calvin Green and Robert Lewis and how the team's younger players have created a more competitive attitude around the program than last season.

"This is a hungrier group," Leach said. "Occasionally you get individuals that get caught up and think their role is special or something. We don't have any guys that think they're special. Everybody is out here battling and enjoys competing in football at a little higher level."
