The Collegiate Commissioners Association will meet this week in North Carolina and are expected to vote Tuesday or Wednesday on a proposal to create a new three-day signing period in December.
If approved, the dates would match-up with the signing period for midyear enrollees, who are usually transferring in from junior college. The early signing period would start this year on Dec. 16 and then be reviewed after two years.
The SEC is the only FBS league that has publicly stated opposition to the proposal.
Mike Leach had never previously been in favor of an early signing period but this past February seemed much more open to one. WSU saw schools raid their verbal commitments in the final days and weeks before Signing Day in 2015.
An early signing period for a school like Washington State figures to decrease some of that late January chaos.
Early signing period coming in December?
